Driving instruction permit
Driver training can be obtained through a driving school or, alternatively, with a teaching permit. A teaching permit allows you to provide the mandatory driving lessons, but the initial driver training (EAS) before starting driving lessons and the risk recognition training before the driving test must be obtained from a driving school or another approved instructor.
Driving School ♥ Teaching Permit = True?
You can also combine driving school instruction with a teaching permit to enhance your training. For example, you can complete the minimum driving school course and practice with your teaching permit instructor or purchase individual driving lessons from the driving school. We also provide tips and advice for continuing your practice independently.

Vehicle used for instruction
Before starting the instruction, make sure that the equipment of the vehicle used for instruction are in order
If you have received driving instruction under a driving instruction permit, you can take the driving test with the vehicle you used in the instruction. Before arriving at the driving test, make sure that the vehicle is in order and meets the requirements for driving examination vehicles.
In addition, make sure that the instruction equipment is securely and correctly in place.
If the vehicle has significant deficiencies, the driving test cannot be taken.
You can rent a vehicle for the driving test from the driving school. The examiner Ajovarma has no vehicles for taking driving tests.

If this is the first driving license for the candidate, he or she must pass the training for candidates for first driving licenses (EAS) before starting the driving instruction.
The training for candidates for first driving licenses (EAS), is compulsory for all who are applying for a driving license for the first time.
The instruction includes 4 hours of theory training on the basic rules of traffic.
The purpose of this training is to provide the person applying for a driving license with basic information about the road traffic system, vehicle interaction and risks, factors affecting the safety of different road user groups, responsibilities and obligations associated with driving motor vehicles, and other requirements for driving safely and with good situational awareness.
The candidate must carry the certificate of passing the training during driving. Ask for a certificate for the instruction received from the driving school.
For a passenger car license, you need at least 10 hours of driving instruction.
In practice, the amount of driving instruction required depends on the individual needs of the driving license applicant and the level of knowledge and skill they have previously obtained. The quantity and content of instruction and driving practice can be adjusted flexibly in accordance with the learning needs such that the minimum amount matches the above-mentioned minimum hours. The more you receive guided practice before your driving test, the better you will be prepared for independent driving after receiving your license.
Required only for those applying for a passenger car license: risk driving education before you participate in the driving test.
- The instruction includes 4 hours of theory and 4 hours of driving that relate to the recognition and management of safety risks on the road. The driving instruction is partly provided using a simulator.
- The training increases readiness for driving in difficult conditions and supports in other ways the acquisition of safe, responsible and law-abiding driving habits. In particular, the training strengthens the ability to recognize and avoid dangerous road situations and factors which may weaken the driver’s driving ability and thus increase the risk of accidents.
The course includes:
2 hours driving in the traffic (built up area, mainroads)
1 hours of darkdriving (simulator)
1 hour driving on the slippery track
4 hours theory lessons at Merenkurkun Liikenneturvallisuuskeskus
(If needed, all theory lessons can be conducted online).
